New Four Post camp manager
Meet the newest employees at the YMCA Camp Four Post - Paul Taylor and Kate Hare.
By Jess EveringhamMeet the newest employees at the YMCA Camp Four Post - Paul Taylor and Kate Hare.
Mr Taylor took up the role of camp manager at the start of December, and has moved to the area with wife Rachel.
Miss Hare graduated from Deniliquin High School last year, and is now an outdoor recreation trainee at the camp.
And it looks like more fresh faces will soon be joining them.
‘‘We are going to have a lot more job opportunities for local people,’’ Mr Taylor said.
New adventure equipment, including a high ropes course, is expected to be finished construction just after Easter.
‘‘We are going to need more young people who have done PE at school; they can train up and be an instructor,’’ Mr Taylor said.
‘‘We are putting a new kitchen in too, so that’s going to create jobs with cooks and assistants within the kitchen as well.’’
Mr Taylor said they hope to have school camps at Four Post weekly, as well as day camps for local children.
Prior to moving to Deniliquin, Mr Taylor and his wife lived in north Queensland for three years, where he worked as a youth development officer for Mackay Regional Council.
However, the pair are originally from New Zealand, where Mr Taylor worked for the YMCA.
The manager encouraged locals to drop by and enjoy the attractions the camp already has.
‘‘Come and say hello, come and meet us,’’ he said.
Four Post Camp was run by a community committee until July 2011, when the YMCA took over.
