The annual Cadel Country Fair will be held in Mathoura tomorrow.By Tyla Harrington
Hundreds of people are expected to fill the lush surrounds of the Mathoura Visitor and Business Centre tomorrow for the annual Cadell Country Fair.
With a warm 33°C predicted there’s no better way to spend your Saturday than at the popular fair.
The day will boast a host of activities including the official opening of the Mathoura skate park.
Mathoura Visitor and Business Centre manager Kalli Crump said it was gearing up to be a huge weekend and encouraged everyone to attend.
She said it was the ideal way to celebrate the Mathoura Visitor Centre’s 10th birthday, which will be marked with a photo display called ‘Look How Far We’ve Come’.
‘‘We’re really looking forward to it,’’ Ms Crump said.
‘‘Everything is looking fantastic and hopefully we’ll get a lot of people.
‘‘The community has been behind the skate park for the last six years and it’s finally come to fruition with its official opening on Saturday.
‘‘It’s all coming together. We encourage everyone to come and enjoy the fete.’’
The fair offers a variety of stalls including crafts, confectionary, fresh produce, homemade cakes and goods, plants, bric-a-brac, award-winning jams and chutneys, and much more.
Anyone with a chainsaw licence and a competitive streak can register for the chainsaw competition, which crowns the ‘fastest chainsaw operator in the region’.
The Mathoura skate park will be officially opened, coinciding with National Skate Hubs Day. A host of special activities will be on offer, hosted by Skateboarding Australia.
There’s plenty to do for children as well — jumping castle, face painting, kids tattoos and showbags. A ‘We’ve Got Talent’ display of local art will also be on show.
A raffle will be held with a $500 Forty Winks voucher, $250 Caltex Star Card and a selection of local wines up for grabs. All proceeds go towards Mathoura charities and events.
