Jason Mraz, Status Quo at Deni Blues and Roots
The second announcement of acts has been released for the Deni Blues and Roots Festival.
Grammy award winning US artists Jason Mraz and Zac Brown Band head up the second announcement of acts for the inaugural Deni Blues & Roots Festival.
They will be joined by British performers Status Quo and Newton Faulkner, and Melbourne bands Dirt River Radio and Howlin’ Steam Train.
International superstars Chris Isaak, Santana and Steve Miller Band have already been confirmed for the event.
The new festival will be held at the Southern Riverina Regional Events Complex on Conargo Rd on Easter Saturday and Sunday, March 30 and 31.
It is being put on by the Deni Play on the Plains Festival Pty Ltd, along with Chugg Entertainment and Rob Potts Entertainment Edge.
Chugg Entertainment chief executive officer Michael Chugg said the announcement of more acts would help put the festival on the map as ‘‘one of the big music events of the year’’.
Rob Potts Entertainment Edge chief executive officer Rob Potts rates Zac Brown Band as one of the ‘‘hottest acts in the USA’’.
‘‘We have been talking to Zac Brown Band about touring Australia for three years, even before they won the Grammy for best new artist in 2011,’’ he said.
‘‘We are totally excited to be able to announce them as part of the final line-up for the inaugural Deni Blues and Roots Festival.
‘‘Together with Jason Mraz, Newton Faulkner and Status Quo joining some of the who’s who of world music, Deni is set for a huge party at Easter.’’
Festival general manager John Harvie said the music event would be a catalyst for Deniliquin.
‘‘I’m so excited that these artists will be appearing in Deni,’’ he said.
‘‘We have one of the best outdoor venues in Australia and it will be fantastic to showcase the venue and the town. ‘‘The Deni Blues and Roots Festival will be the catalyst for other events of this type to be hosted by Deni.”
Other acts to perform at Easter include Bonnie Raitt, Tony Joe White, Jimmy Cliff, Chris Russell’s Chicken Walk, Chris Wilson/Geoff Achison Band, Gallie & Shannon Bourne, Collard Greens & Gravy, Morgan Evans, Ward’s Express and Marco Goldsmith Band.
The festival is expected to attract 9000 people each day, with 3500 single-day tickets also available for both days.
Camping will be available at the Conargo Rd site.
