Locals are being encouraged to support the annual Marc Kingston Memorial Toy Run being held in Cressy St, Deniliquin this Saturday.

The annual event is expected to see about 30 motorbikes owned by Deniliquin Ulysses Club members line the main street collecting toys.

Club secretary Peter Nankivell encouraged the community to donate ‘‘new and unwrapped toys’’, which will then be given to the Deniliquin Salvation Army.

The initiative began in the 1980s, according to Mr Nankivell, and since then has been helping disadvantaged local children.

‘‘It’s a really good cause that gives less fortunate children a special Christmas,’’ he said.

Club riders will be parked in Cressy St from 9am to 11.30am.

The Deniliquin Salvation Army Band will also perform from 10am.

Captain David Day said the support from the Ulysses Club was always appreciated.
