The ninth annual Spring Rally will be held at Deniliquin's Memorial Park on Saturday and Sunday.By Tyla Harrington
Deniliquin will spring to life this weekend when Memorial Park hosts the ninth annual Spring Rally.
Deniliquin Collectors Club and Central IGA are presenting the rally, which is expected to attract 2000 people through the gates across Saturday and Sunday.
Collectors Club committee member Steve Beckwith, who is also in charge of the Show & Shine on Sunday, is encouraging everyone to ‘‘come down and have a look’’.
‘‘Now that we’ve got the use of the pavilion, we’ll have Memorial Park filled completely.
‘‘The history of it all and the uniqueness is worth a look.’’
Rally secretary and Collectors Club treasurer Daryl Whateley, who collects tractors, will have his son’s Fordson Major tractor, from the 1950s, on display.
His son, Rodney, is travelling to Deniliquin for the rally.
Day one of the Spring Rally is dedicated to the collectors’ items, and the Sunday to highly sought-after cars.
An array of Ford models and Fordson tractors are tipped to be some of the highlights of the weekend.
There will also be swap sites and a Tractor Trek that travels through town on Saturday morning.
On Sunday the much-anticipated Show & Shine will start at 10am. It will be open to all show, street or unfinished cars.
Guests are expected to travel from Bendigo, Melbourne, South Australia and possibly further afield to attend.
Tickets for the highly-anticipated event are just $5 per person each day.
