Deniliquin's Sun Festival Committee refuses to let the heat ruin the annual kid's day in the park.By Zoe McMaugh
Deniliquin Sun Festival coordinator Geoff Riley has assured the community this Friday’s Kid’s Party in the Park will go ahead as planned despite weather predictions.
Mr Riley said there was a concern the heat would force the committee to cancel the annual event. Not wanting to miss the famous day, the committee has instead chosen to alter the times.
‘‘The Kid’s Party in the Park will now start at 9am, instead of 10am,’’ Mr Riley said.
The original end time of 2pm still applies to the event, but Mr Riley said it will be reassessed during the day.
According to Elders Weather, Friday is expected to reach a top of 39°C, and will be mostly sunny.
Information about the kid’s party and other Sun Festival events can be found in Tuesday’s Pastoral Times.
