The Edward River Art Society celebrated the launch of its Christmas exhibition and marked its 30th birthday on Thursday night last week at the Multi Arts Centre.
About 60 people attended the ERAS combined Christmas exhibition launch and birthday, which was officially opened by My Shop owner Denise Phillips.
To mark the anniversary, a celebratory cake made by ERAS member Dale Panton was cut by fellow members Brionie Munson and Freda Allitt.
Brionie, 17, has been contributing to the artist group for four years, while Freda, aged 88, has been a member since ERAS’s beginning.
ERAS president Jan Harris said these members symbolise ‘‘there is no age barrier to art’’.
‘‘Cutting the cake was our youngest and oldest members, and we have all ages in between,’’ she said.
‘‘This makes very interesting Thursday classes with members having a wide range of experiences.’’
The annual Christmas exhibition, which is open to the public up until 1pm tomorrow, features a combination of paint, clay, acrylic, drawing and photographs, and all artworks are available for purchase.
