A woman won a family holiday to Deniliquin thanks to an outdoors expo last month.
Jenny Huebner from Warracknabeal, Victoria has won a family holiday to Deniliquin.
She won the prize by visiting the Deniliquin stand at the National 4x4 & Outdoors Show and Fishing & Boating Expo last month.
The accommodation and dining package is for two adults and two children, which must be used within 12 months.
To assist in marketing Deniliquin to expo participants, the Deniliquin crew offered each person who stopped by the stall a chance to enter a Deniliquin weekend package giveaway.
Deniliquin Council manager economic and business development John Harvie said he was ‘‘overwhelmed’’ by the number of entrants.
The prize on offer was a two-night stay in a poolside villa at BIG4 Deniliquin Holiday Park and the chance to dine at the Sportsman’s Arms Hotel and the Deniliquin RSL Club.
‘‘There were hundreds of them (entries),’’ Mr Harvie said.
‘‘We had to empty the barrel four times.’’
Deniliquin Council manned the stall at the expo on the Saturday while the Deniliquin RSL Fishing Club took Friday and the Deniliquin Ute Muster the Sunday.
Mr Harvie said the town’s two main events were certainly a drawcard.
‘‘We got a fantastic reception and there were lots of people there,’’ he said.
‘‘There was a lot of interest in the fishing classic, but much more for the Ute Muster.
‘‘I also handed out lots of Deniliquin brochures – it was certainly a worthwhile experience.’’
Deniliquin RSL Fishing Club member Troy Bright said Friday was a bit quieter, but they still had a lot of visitors.
‘‘‘There were a lot of people coming through and there was particularly a lot of interest in the Ute Muster,’’ he said.
