The NSW Government has thrown its support behind the upgrade and re-opening of the Deniliquin Abattoir.

Member for Murrumbidgee Adrian Piccoli announced the government would provide more than $1 million to help pay for the development while in Deniliquin today.

Deputy Premier and Minister for Regional Infrastructure and Services Andrew Stoner said the NSW Government has been working with Australian Meat Group Pty Ltd on a major investment plan for the facility, which could create in excess of 400 jobs in the next five years.

Development application approvals for the upgrades are still pending.
