Claire steps up for CARE
Deniliquin's Claire Wing has set a challenge to walk 10,000 steps a day to raise money for impoverished women.
Local woman Claire Wing has joined the Walk In Her Shoes challenge, organised by women-focused charity CARE.
The challenge runs from March 18 to 24, and asks participants to walk 10,000 steps a day while raising money for their effort.
‘‘Last year I supported a friend who was doing it, but this year I’ve decided to have a go,’’ Ms Wing said.
‘‘I want to help others out there and I see this as a chance to do that.’’
CARE donates the funds towards helping women and girls in developing countries to stay at school, earn an income and assist their community to overcome poverty.
Ms Wing has raised $320, but is aiming to bring the total up to $500.
‘‘People have been incredibly generous already, and I’m hoping this generosity continues.
‘‘We do not know how lucky we are in Australia, but we all have a chance to make a difference.’’
