There will be 17 highly coveted items up for grabs in tonight’s charity auction, which is raising money for the family of Deeon Higgins.
Friend of the family, Damien Rhook, came up with the idea to have a fundraising night following the tragic death of two year-old Deeon Higgins, who was mauled by a family member’s pet dog on August 4.
Mr Rhook said the support for the family had been overwhelming.
A Night for Deeon will start from 7pm tonight at the Deniliquin RSL Club. There will be entertainment, as well as a Kids Disco.
There are gym memberships, massages, accommodation packages, and tickets for the Deniliquin races and Deniliquin Ute Muster up for grabs. There’s also AFL memorabilia including signed items from Melbourne, Richmond, Brisbane, Geelong, Carlton and Essendon.
Performing on the night will be musicians Chris Todd, Lanii & Charlie and Lachlan Downes.
The Higgins family are expected to address the crowd as well. Proceeds will assist the family, while a portion will be donated to Deni Hospital.
