Two popular local bands will belt out some rock’n’roll at the Deniliquin RSL Club this Christmas Eve.

The Culls and The Dark Suited Gentlemen will perform in the Dunlop Room from 8.30pm.

Culls guitarist and singer Mark Ritchie said revellers can expect a mixture of music: ‘‘Mostly rock’n’roll and a little bit of country’’.

The playlist will include hits from Pete Murray, Tim McGraw and Keith Urban.

Dark Suited Gentlemen bass guitarist Daniel Bodey said they will be playing ‘‘pub rock’’, with hits from Cold Chisel and Powderfinger to name a few.

Deniliquin RSL chief executive Luke Stephenson said Dark Suited Gentlemen were well received when they performed on Christmas Eve last year.

‘‘They were pretty popular last year. They attracted about 300 (people),’’ he said.

Mr Stephenson is hoping for similar numbers on Saturday.

Both of Saturday’s acts are Deniliquin bands.

‘‘We will be looking at promoting more local bands next year as well so it’s a good stepping stone towards next (2012),’’ Mr Stephenson said.
