Bill Sammon said last week the family was excited to be celebrating 50 years of breeding Poll Dorsets and this year’s sale would offer some of their best ever.
His father, Bill senior, registered the stud in 1963 with Dorset Horns and in 1993, a Poll Dorset stud was established and the Dorset Horn stud was integrated into it.
Mr Sammon said in recent times, rams purchased from Tattykeel for $8500 and $4000 had influenced the muscle-to-weight ratio the Majella rams provide, thus generating higher yielding carcases.
The Majella sale will start at 12.30
