Hunt gallops into a new season

Weather doesn't deter keen riders to hounds.

The Findon Harriers Hunt field trots towards the first cover at its Wahring meet recently.

Findon Harriers Hunt met at Wahring on Saturday, May 17 with a sunny, dry day giving the foxhound pack a tough task to pick up a scent.

A colourful field of horses and riders set off to find a fox behind huntsman Patrick O’Shea from Broadford, assisted by whippers-in Melissa Froesch (Broadford) and James Bradford (Woodstock).

Mr O’Shea quickly had his hounds on the job, with a fox put up in the first cover — a large timbered swamp — and a fast chase ensued.

Findon’s master of foxhounds, Stuart Abrahams from Tatura, said the field of 22 riders had a great day, with one fox accounted for.
