Fair Work inspectors will be turning up on Goulburn Valley orchards this week to quizz growers and employees about their wage rates and conditions.

Rumours of an impending campaign were confirmed on Friday when the Fair Work Ombudsman announced there will be unannounced visits to the Goulburn Valley, Harcourt and Gippsland.

A Fair Work representative recently addressed growers at a Fruit Growers Victoria meeting.

Fair Work Ombudsman Natalie James says the main purpose of the visits is to increase awareness among orchardists and labour hire contractors of workplace laws.

However, she says issues of non-compliance that may be identified will be addressed.
