The picturesque Coledale property of Wallace and Sue Binnie at Bungeet hosted its annual Poll Dorset ram sale last Thursday.
Auctioneer Ross Milne from Elders stud stock praised the even standard of the draft, which sold to keen competition including local Yarrawonga area buyers and further afield such as Goulburn Valley Water’s farm at Bunbartha.
Mr Binnie said in his introductory remarks the family was very pleased with the way the rams presented after a difficult period last spring, summer and autumn.
He said the rams had been sired by rams selected for their good muscle, high growth and moderate to low fat levels, which was certainly reflected in the rams penned on Friday.
Robert Tait, branch manager at Elders Yarrawonga, said the Binnie family was pleased with the average of $1144 of 85 sold from 98 offered.
‘‘The average was $200 up on their sale last year,’’ Mr Tait said.
