Tickets on sale for Murray music festival
Major Melbourne cover band confirmed for Music on the Murray Festival
By Jess CraigTickets go on sale today for the Music on the Murray Festival.
Cobram-Barooga Apex Club will bring music to the banks of the Murray River in early March.
Music on the Murray will be at Thompsons Beach on Friday, March 2.
The event is designed to bring people to the beach for a night of music, food and fun.
Apex club member Damien Sfetcopoulos said Music on the Murray would be a great night out.
Charlotte Gemmill, Sweet as Taylor, Matt Hooper and Entourage will all line up on stage, supporting main act Blunt.
‘‘Blunt is a Melbourne covers band and they play some great Aussie rock songs,’’ Mr Sfetcopoulos said.
Music on the Murray is an entirely ‘‘bring-your-own event’’, and while families with children are welcome, the event is mainly targeted at those over the age of 18.
‘‘We’re hoping people will come down to Thompsons Beach after work on Friday to enjoy a drink on the banks of the Murray, some food and some great music,’’ Mr Sfetcopoulos said.
‘‘The BYO aspect means people can put together their own nibbles or dinner, and keeps the event casual and relaxed.’’
Music on the Murray is an extension of the popular Peaches and Cream event, which ran at Thompsons Beach in January last year.
‘‘Peaches and Cream has been running in the local area for 30 years, and during that time the Apex Club has been able to donate almost $1.7
‘‘Without the support of Peaches and Cream, some of these projects may have been waiting much longer for funding.
‘‘The Cobram-Barooga communities have gone through some tough times in recent years, and the Apex club feels that it is our responsibility to provide some type of event to help boost community morale.’’
Tickets are on sale at Cobram-Barooga Tourist Information Centre, Betta Electrical and AusElec.
Tickets are $35 per person, and include a $2 booking fee where applicable.
