There were 12 sets of glistening eyes, 12 cheeky grins and 12 lists to Santa Claus.
Families had twice as much fun on Friday when six sets of twins — and their parents — celebrated a fun-filled year at Twins Plus Benalla playgroup.
Everyone enjoyed fairy bread and festive treats at the Christmas party, and Santa Claus made an appearance handing out gifts to the children.
Mother Kylie White said about eight families attended the playgroup, which provided a great support network for parents, and a developmental and learning environment for the children.
‘‘As much as there’s interaction for the kids, it’s just as great for new parents with multiples,’’ Mrs White said.
‘‘And also, we lend things to each other and it’s for support, because we’re all sort of in the same boat, so it’s a really good network in that way.’’
Another mother from the group, Tam Salafia, said there were challenges that came with having twins, such as toilet training and breast feeding.
‘‘It’s just doing everything, times two, and at the same time,’’ she said.
However the parents agreed they wouldn’t have it any other way.
‘‘It’s the bond between them, watching your two children and the bond that they have together as twins, is unlike other siblings,’’ Ms Salafia said.
Mrs White said the support she received from the group during the first 12 months after having her children was invaluable.
‘‘It’s about learning not to be so hard on yourself when you’re a first-time parent having twins,’’ Mrs White said.
‘‘It’s twice as much work but it’s twice as much joy — I wouldn’t change it for the world.’’
Twins Plus Benalla playgroup is open to newborn to school aged. Term one starts from Friday, January 31, 2014 from 9.30
