Severe weather warning for north-east Victoria

A severe weather warning has been issued for north-east Victoria after a day of heavy rain.

December 4, 2013 3:00pm

The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a severe weather warning for north-east Victoria following today’s heavy rain.

Residents are being warned that thunderstorms and heavy rain may lead to flash flooding.

Numerous locations across eastern Victoria recorded between 20 to 50 mm of rainfall today.

Areas in the Alpine Ranges are advised that rainfall run-off from the mountainous regions affected by bushfires last summer may contain debris such as soil, ash, trees and rocks.

The State Emergency Service advises that people should not drive, ride or walk through flood water, and should remain clear of creeks and storm drains.

For emergency help in floods and storms, ring your local SES Unit on 132 500.
