Women in primary industries who are passionate about their work and their community are encouraged to nominate for the 2014 Rural Women’s Award.
Member for Benalla Bill Sykes said the Rural Industries Research and Development Corporation Rural Women’s Award provided opportunities for rural women in leadership roles to enhance their industry networks and grow their leadership capacity.

Dr Sykes said these were ‘‘significant opportunities’’ for career and personal development.
‘‘The bursary has helped past winners to fund leadership and business management training, overseas study tours, establishing business, developing educational or promotional campaigns, networking at forums and conferences, testing information technology initiatives and publishing books,’’ Dr Sykes said.
Michelle Freeman, a harvesting forester with VicForests from Alexandra, won the award in 2013.
Janelle Boynton, owner of Boynton’s Winery in Porepunkah was a deserving finalist in 2012.
Nominations for the 2014 Rural Women’s Award are open until October 31.
