Benalla Business Network last week donated $336 to Waminda Community House.
Benalla Business Network demonstrated their strong commitment to business and the community last week with a donation to Waminda Community House.
BBN held a raffle for each table centrepiece at last month’s Business Excellence Awards, raising $336 for the community centre.
‘‘Building business and supporting community is our tagline, so the supporting community is where Waminda comes in,’’ Ms Rheese said.
‘‘We knew that they were doing work with families and that appealed to us at the time and so that’s basically why they were chosen.’’
‘‘One of our focuses is on supporting community, and businesses do that very heavily already for a lot of the sponsorship that they do as individual businesses and BBN see it as an extension of that.’’
Waminda Community House assistant co-ordinator Dianne Harper said the donation would go a long way in allowing the local organisation to continue running its popular programs.
‘‘Being able to get money like this allows us to give things back to people,’’ Ms Harper said.
Waminda Community House receives no continual funding, meaning some programs such as the recent school holiday programs, see the co-ordinators reaching into their own pockets.
‘‘When you think about the programs, it gets people out of the house and engaged in the local community,’’ Ms Harper said.
‘‘The money allows us to offer something to the community aimed at both adults and kids.’’
Ms Harper said preparations were underway for the annual Christmas party and the donation would assist in the general budget for Waminda’s numerous programs and activities.
