Band ready for change

Benalla Rose City Band has drummed up a whole lot of support.

This year brings change to the Benalla Rose City Band.

Fiona Turner has retired as conductor after eight years at the helm, and Robert Squires has taken over the role and encourages any interested musicians of the district to join the group.

There are several upcoming events for the band, including the March Lakeside Market and Anzac Day.

The band’s equipment trailer has been refurbished, thanks to the generosity of the Dosser family and past band president Rod Izard. The Dosser family donated the costs of the upgrade in memory of Kevin Dosser, a Benalla Rose City Band life member and treasurer for more than 20 years. Rod Izard donated his labour to the project.

To become involved with the band as a player, sponsor or committee member, phone musical director Rob Squires on 0417343268 or secretary Sally Matheson on 0409967303 for information on rehearsal times and venue.
