The McPherson Media Group is an independent rural and regional publishing group comprising:

With its headquarters in Shepparton, the McPherson Media Group offers a unique, complementary range of information and communications services to clients across the Goulburn and Murray valleys. The Group is owned by the fourth generation of the McPherson family, three of whom are active in the business. Ross, Chris and Paul remain involved and committed to the business at a board level. The Group remains powerfully attached and committed to its regional publishing roots - it is deeply engaged in supporting the development and health of its regional community. Within the McPherson Media Group, our commitment to our customers, our people and our communities has been an important driver behind where we are today. Newspaper publishing

The McPherson family has owned the Shepparton News since 1888; it is the oldest family-owned newspaper group in Australasia and one of just three independent groups publishing daily newspapers. A number of other regional and rural newspapers have been added to the Group during the past 40 years. They include:

Each of these newspapers has a distinct personality and is tailored to meet the needs of the community in which it circulates. Each newspaper is also available on-line, thus meeting the needs of readers who prefer electronic delivery of their local news and information. There is, however, an overriding philosophy common to each of them - each is dedicated to enhancing the economic, political and social well-being of its community. At the McPherson Media Group, we expect our managers and staff to exemplify that same philosophy - both in the way they treat our customers and the manner in which they actively engage with their communities.

Commercial printing

Complementing the web-printing business is the commercial printing operation situated in Kyabram. With the ability to produce full colour sheet-fed printed products, with a quick turnaround and delivery time, Waterwheel Press Pty Ltd is able to service a state-wide market for high-quality commercial printing and retail printed products.

Internet service provider

McPherson Media Pty Ltd currently services about 3500 subscribers to its telco service, offering a level of personal service that reflects the Group’s position in the minds of its customers – whether they be advertisers, printing clients or readers in print or readers on-line. And, while McPherson Media is one of the only locally owned service providers left nationally, Goulburn Valley residents and businesses can guarantee that they get the personalised support and help they require. McPherson Media is able to provide a number of telecommunication services not only locally but nationally with is purchasing power from other big players in the Telco market at competitive rates. McPherson Media is a licensed carrier and owns and operates 3 wireless networks currently supplying over 1200 customers with broadband services, it also provides ADSL, ADSL2+, Mobile Wireless Broadband, Fixed Voice, Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP.) and domain - web services. With any of these products we have the ability to provide bundle packages and invoice for them in a single bill for convenience.

With the resources within the McPherson Media Group, we can, collectively, offer marketing and design services to meet every need. From graphic design to printing, marketing advice and service, the Group has the resources to assist in the promotion and success of every client's business.
